Chris Mack began his career in 2004 as an electrical apprentice with Kier Group, gaining hands on experience in large-scale domestic and commercial projects. After a few years of working with Kier, Chris decided to branch out on his own as a self-employed electrical subcontractor. He handled projects ranging from single residential repairs to extensive first and second fix works on multi-million-pound developments, including prestigious sites like HSBC Canary Wharf and Southampton Football Club.

In 2013, Winters Electrical was so impressed with Chris’s diligent work ethic and organised can-do attitude, that they approached him to join their team as an electrical estimator. Chris accepted the offer and quickly excelled, working with his mentor Keith Dowler. He completed Winters’ in-house training program and, within two years, became the company’s most proficient estimator, regularly handling tenders exceeding £20 million. Recognising his potential, Winters sponsored Chris through a degree in Project Management and Surveying, which he successfully completed in 2017 while balancing full-time work and family responsibilities.

With extensive experience as an electrician, estimator, and now a qualified project manager, Chris began receiving offers to manage various high-profile projects. ProMEP Ltd approached him with a £22 million contract for a 510-apartment project at Taberner House, trusting him to oversee the entire project. Chris joined ProMEP and successfully managed the project to completion at the end of 2019.

By 2020, Chris had built a solid foundation to launch his own company, Vulcan Electrical Services Ltd.  Vulcan Electrical is a company that prides itself on being organised, professional, and dependable. Whether the project is small or large, every job is approached with the same meticulous care. Chris personally ensures that each project is accurately estimated, drawing on his extensive experience, to provide precise costings and anticipate potential issues, addressing them before they arise.

Chris works closely directly with clients or project managers to ensure that all electrical works are carefully planned and seamlessly integrated with the overall job plan and other trades on site. Vulcan Electrical’s team of electricians, many of whom have worked with Chris for years, adhere to the same high standards that Chris has insisted upon since the company’s inception. As a result, all work meets or exceeds industry standards, and is carried out professionally and safely, as evidenced by Vulcan Electrical’s multiple accreditations, including Constructionline Silver, SSIP, and CHAS.

Chris is dedicated to the professional development of his team at Vulcan Electrical. Supervisors hold SSSTS qualifications, and all team members are encouraged to take regular courses to enhance their knowledge. Vulcan also takes on new apprentices every year. Just as Chris was once an apprentice and later sponsored into further education, he is committed to giving back to the industry and paving the way for more highly trained electricians in the years to come.
